How This Section Works

Start Here

Get Involved has a few structural conventions that help you get the most from it. This page explains them before you dive in.

Planned content:

  • Skill levels explained — what Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced mean in this section. These are based on real-world experience, not academic knowledge.
  • How the Skill Assessment Quiz works — how to take it, what it measures, where your result is stored (locally, on your device), and how the “⚠️ above your skill level” warning works on individual articles.
  • Freshness tags — some guides (especially Digital Tools) change frequently. This section explains what a “Last verified on [date]” tag means and how to interpret it.
  • How to flag outdated content — every article in Get Involved has a Giscus comment thread at the bottom. This page explains how to use it to report outdated steps, broken links, or changed interfaces.
  • Cross-references to other sections — how and why this section links out to Pollution Library and Our Rivers, and what those cross-links mean.

Once you understand the structure, head to What Kind of Contributor Are You? to find your entry point.
